The themes of this painting are grace and serenity, inviting the viewer’s contemplation of beauty in the everyday. A contrast exists between the visible marks of the water that envelop the more solidified figure of the swan – its neck gracefully gliding through an energetic backdrop. There is also unity present in the harmonious color palette – cool cerulean blues and turquoise greens – evoking the crisp clarity of sunlit water.
